Presenting the
PANHANDLE SPOTLIGHT SERIES 2008
This summer is shaping up to be a great one with the partnership of the Panhandle Tourism Marketing Council (PTMC), the Texas Panhandle Heritage Foundation’s (TPHF) The Musical Drama TEXAS, The Big Texan, and KVII to present the Panhandle Spotlight Series. A feature of years past, once again communities of the Panhandle will be honored at a select number of evening performances of The Musical Drama TEXAS.
On March 28 we rolled out the Spotlight Series at the Big Texan in Amarillo. There was musical entertainment courtesy of TEXAS, and the DVD produced by KVII presenting this incredible summer-long event was shown. For more information on how to participate, read the information below, then contact the Spotlight Series Coordinator at spotlightseries@gmail.com

DETAILS:
From June 3rd through August 14, each Tuesday and Wednesday will focus on our Panhandle counties for 22 available evenings, and any participating communities, businesses, and attractions in that county. Read on for information on how to get the spotlight on your corner of the Panhandle this summer.
What you can get as a participant on the evening your county is featured:
• Your county will be recognized from the stage during the preshow announcements and via on-air spots the week before your Spotlight night.
• All children aged K-5 will receive a free dinner and show ticket with the purchase of a full fare adult dinner and show ticket.
• The patio stage will be available, on a very limited basis, for a performance band, poetry reading
• There will be four 6-foot tables available for display of artworks by community artists, promotional handouts, or other items for distribution.
• Opportunity for an on-stage appearance in TEXAS.
• Opportunity to meet the author of Romancing the Texas Panhandle, Mariwyn Webb.
Guidelines for participation:
• A Press Release about your community and list of people you’d like to have recognized from the stage must be provided to PTMC. KVII will have someone on stage each night of the Spotlight Series to do introductions and callouts, as well as running on-air and online promotions before and during the Spotlight Series. KVII will edit your information as needed.
• All children from your county aged K-5 will receive a free dinner and show ticket with the purchase of a full fare adult dinner and show ticket. All participating student names must be submitted to the Spotlight Series Coordinator by May 10 for approval. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Performance opportunities: TPHF will make available the patio stage for a performance band, poetry reading or other approved groups on a Tuesday or Wednesday night, subject to auditions and approval by the artistic staff of the TPHF. This will be made on a very limited basis and subject to auditions. TPHF reserves the right to approve any and all performance materials in advance. Contact the coordinator for details.
• Tables: Displays are restricted to the 6-foot tables provided. No structures are allowed. No selling of any sort may be done from these locations due to restrictions placed upon TPHF by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Someone must be at the tables each Tuesday and Wednesday night. Other nights tables will be made available for use by PTMC members. On these other nights, it is imperative that each table is occupied at all times and that all materials are collected and removed from the amphitheatre each night. TPHF assumes no responsibility nor liability for the products being shown. They reserve the right to approve all materials.
• On-stage appearances are subject to the following conditions: If a county purchases 100 or more adult dinner and show tickets (each combination dinner and show ticket is counted as one ticket sale), a single stage appearance will be made available. This will be subject to variable conditions of the specified performance that night. This is a live theatrical production with weather conditions that are beyond our control. No speaking roles will be made available and all stage appearances will be limited to a single scene. If a night has to be skipped, no makeup nights will be made available.
• Book signings will be limited to copies of Romancing the Texas Panhandle purchased in the Pioneer Amphitheatre gift shop. No outside books or materials will be allowed. This is due to the contract TPHF has with Texas Parks and Wildlife. The author will be there on a select number of evenings to be announced.
• All participating entities must be paid members of the PTMC. PTMC has been working to promote Panhandle tourism for over 15 years! Members receive the benefits of regional marketing and networking such as the Spotlight Series. Additionally, members receive a listing on the PTMC website www.texasptmc.org, and a link to their websites. Discounts on web ad rates are also available.
